Perform a “bounce test” on your truck or van to determine whether you need new shocks and struts. Press down one of the front corners of the vehicle. Notice how the vehicle responds. If it bounces up higher than where it started from before settling, your suspension system is working fine. If your car, truck or van doesn’t bounce very high before coming back to its original position, it’s likely that your shocks and struts are worn. Repeat this test on each corner of your vehicle to determine how many replacement parts you need to install. This test may be harder to perform on very large vehicles like vans and RVs, in which case a mechanic can visually inspect the parts.
